What we collect
When you create an account, AI Jokes stores your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We also store your favourites, joke-viewing history, daily-email preference and delivery records, and basic security records such as login attempts and IP addresses. Password-reset and email-confirmation tokens are hashed and expire. Reactions and joke reports use a pseudonymous key derived from your signed-in account or current session; raw session IDs are not stored.
How we use it
We use this information to provide your account, remember favourites, show unseen jokes, protect the service, respond to support requests, and improve reliability. With your optional consent, we also use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate use of pages and features such as joke views, punchline reveals, reactions, favourites and shares. We do not send Google the joke text, your password, or your email address, and we do not sell personal information.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses an essential session cookie to keep members signed in and may cache the public app shell on your device for faster loading. We count aggregate daily page views without storing visitor identifiers. Optional Google Analytics is disabled until you choose “Allow analytics”; your choice is saved in local storage and can be changed through “Analytics settings” in the footer. Advertising signals and ad-personalisation signals are disabled.
Storage and retention
Your account data remains while your account is active. You can permanently delete it from Account settings. Short-lived operational logs and encrypted or access-controlled backups may remain for up to 14 days before automatic removal.
Sharing and security
We share data only with service providers needed to operate the website, including Google when you allow optional analytics, when required by law, or to protect the service and its users. Google may process analytics data under its own privacy terms. We use HTTPS, restricted database access, password hashing, and other reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Your choices
Daily joke emails are optional and require confirmation. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can pause, resume, or change the delivery schedule from your dashboard. You can also change your password, remove favourites, or delete your account through the website. For privacy questions, email hello@aijokes.app.
